2026 CAMP staff application


​We are excited to invite passionate and energetic camp counsellors and volunteers to join our summer camp at the parish, inspired by the joyful spirit of Saint John Bosco. For six amazing weeks, from June 29 to August 3, 2026, you will accompany young people through games, activities, faith, and community. Following Don Bosco’s spirit of kindness, joy, and presence among the young, this is a beautiful opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children while growing as a leader and role model. Set-up and Formation-June 29th-July 3rd, 2026
WEEK 1 - july 6th - july 10th, 2026
WEEK 2 - july 13th - july 17th, 2026
WEEK 3 - july 20st - july 24th, 2026
WEEK 4 - july 27th - july 31st, 2026
Clean-up & evaluation -​august 3rd - 7th, 2026

Camp days run from Monday to Friday 9 am to 4 pm.
Hours for staff are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.


​Summer Camp Counsellors & Volunteers

We are looking for counsellors who can be present, caring, and joyful role models, helping create a safe, welcoming, and fun environment for every camper in the joyful spirit of Saint John Bosco. 

Qualities
  • Love for working with children and youth 
  • Positive, joyful attitude and patience
  • Responsible and punctual
  • Able to follow instructions and camp rules carefully
  • Active and energetic, ready to participate in games and activities
  • Engaging and approachable, helping campers feel included and welcomed
  • Foreseeing and attentive, able to anticipate needs and ensure safety
  • Team-oriented with good communication skills
  • Creative and willing to help lead activities

Requirements
  • who have finished Gr 11 by June 2026 for counsellors
  • who have finished Gr 9 by June 2026 for volunteers
  • Commitment to the full camp period: June 29 – August 3, 2026
  • Participation in counsellor training before camp
  • Willingness to follow safety procedures and camp policies

Important dates and information
(always subject to slight change)

Administration and Counsellors are expected to work a minimum of 6 weeks of the summer which will be indicated on job agreement and  job description. Administration are likely expected to work 7-8 weeks. 

Prior to the camp season, we will be holding various meetings in April, May, and June. 
Finalized season dates will be shared when hiring has been completed. These meetings are formative for all staff. 
All meetings are mandatory to attend. 


All application forms must be received by midnight on April 4, 2026.

Monday June 29th – Friday July 3rd: FORMATION AND PREPARATION (Setup week)
All staff and volunteers are expected to attend. This is a mandatory week for all staff as community building and formation retreat activities take place. **Staff will have Canada Day (Wednesday July 1st) off**

Monday July 6th - Friday July 31st: 4 WEEKS OF CAMP
Minimum 2 week commitment for volunteers - full days
Camp Days: 9:00 am - 4:00 pm (8:30 am arrival for staff)


Tuesday, August 4th - Friday, August 7th: CLEAN UP AND EVALUATION WEEK

What to expect

  1. Submit Application – Complete and send the application form before the deadline.
  2. Application Review – The camp team reviews applications.
  3. Interview – Selected applicants are invited for a short interview.
  4. Selection & Notification – Successful candidates are contacted and offered a position.
  5. Training / Orientation – All hired counselors attend a training session before camp begins.
